“Be the best that you can be and live the life you wish to live”

Change your life with the Metamorphic Technique

In a nutshell, the Metamorphic Technique is a means of enabling you to reach the potential that was always in you by freeing energy blocks and allowing you to be the best that you can be.

Whether you’re trying to lose weight, leave a difficult relationship, decide what to do with your life or cope with a physical or mental condition, the Metamorphic Technique can offer a gentle, non-invasive and relaxing way of reaching your goals, particularly when you feel you’ve tried everything else.

Can the Metamorphic Technique help me?

As the name suggests, the Metamorphic Technique is concerned with change and transformation, which can occur on a number of levels - physical, mental, emotional and behavioural. It is a means of reconnecting you to your source, that inner life force which holds the blueprint for your true self, the best possible version of yourself. It can dissolve or loosen the blocks or obstacles that life throws up along the way, right from the moment of conception, that make it seem so hard to reach our full potential.

People are often drawn to the Metamorphic Technique at deeply difficult times or because they feel at a crossroads or 'stuck' in their lives. They find that it can help them to cope better with changing or new situations, deal with long-standing emotional issues and make profound inner changes without having to discuss their problems or delve into their past. So you might find the Metamorphic Technique helpful when you are moving house, changing jobs, facing retirement or redundancy, or when the children leave home. It may also be useful when you need help facing bereavement, divorce or separation, or news of illness for yourself or someone you care about.

On a physical level, people come with a wide variety of conditions from cancer to chronic fatigue. Metamorphic Technique can be helpful in many areas, such as alleviating stress, depression, illness, pain, tinnitus, etc. or dealing with relationship problems, work issues, low self-esteem to name just a few. The Technique does not aim to address these conditions or their symptoms, but in most cases people find that symptoms lessen over time, that they respond better to other treatments they have been following or that they are guided to a treatment or therapy which works for them.

The Metamorphic Technique can lead people to whatever is right for them at that time. For teenagers (or anyone!) who seem to be “lost” and don’t know what to do with their life, this Technique can help them find the direction that is best for them.

The Metamorphic Technique has been used a great deal in work with physical and mental disabilities, as well as in schools for children with learning difficulties, Downs syndrome, autism, dyslexia, ADHD, in hospitals, in prisons, and in helping people overcome addictions, eating disorders and stress-related conditions. Pregnant women and midwives also use it, as it can allow an easier pregnancy and birth.

As the Technique works on your life force, your fundamental energy, rather than on any specific problem, it can be used in a vast range of situations too numerous to list here. But as the practitioner will not ask you “What seems to be the problem?”, it is worth trying on anything.

What does a session involve?

A session usually lasts for about an hour. The practitioner will ask you to take off your shoes and socks and you may be either sitting or lying down. The practitioner uses a light touch (not massage) on the spinal reflex points in the feet, hands and head. Sessions are non-diagnostic: the practitioner won’t be trying to address specific symptoms or problems, so there is no need to take a case history. You may wish to talk about your problems, chat about other things or just drift off to sleep. The choice is yours. You will most probably find the session very soothing and peaceful.

Metamorphic Technique practitioners are trained to work in a detached way. This doesn’t mean that they don't care. It simply means that they won’t make judgements about what you choose to tell them, impose their will or seek to direct your life force in any way. This means your life force is free to do whatever is needed to empower you to heal yourself in the way that is right for you, and allow you to become the best that you can be.

What happens after a session?

Immediately after a session you may feel deeply relaxed or energised, or both. That night you may sleep very peacefully or you could have vivid dreams. It isn’t possible to predict what will happen as this will depend on your own life force, which is unique. As your energy starts shifting, you may re-experience some old symptoms or emotional upset over a day or two. This is all part of the process of bringing up old patterns to be released. Thankfully, while the life force can bring about great shifts, they always seem to be at a level that people can cope with.

In some cases you may notice change immediately, while in others changes could take days, weeks or months and are more subtle. These changes might range from significant improvements in physical, mental or emotional health to general feelings of having more energy and confidence, releasing old habits or gradually letting go of past hurts and finding peace.

People often report significant changes in the way they see life and how they feel about themselves; in many cases they experience a growing sense of purpose and inner strength and may find themselves changing their job, moving house, leaving a relationship or finding a new one as their life 'gets on track'. Some people have described it like 'coming home to themselves' and most people end up feeling considerably happier and more fulfilled.

You will find transformation is most noticeable with hindsight. A year or two after a course of sessions people often look back and are astounded by just how far they have moved forward in their lives and how so much has changed for the better. Others acknowledge that life has been just as rocky as usual but that they have breezed through all the ups and downs.

The benefits of this Technique will usually be broad-ranging rather than specific and can often affect other people in your life. For example, if you come to the Metamorphic Technique hoping for motivation to lose weight, you may well find a few months later that in addition to being slimmer and healthier, you have been promoted to a more fulfilling job, your children are behaving better, your husband gives up smoking and your life just seems to be running more smoothly than before.

How many sessions will I need?

It is entirely up to each person to decide how many sessions they have and how often. Some people have regular weekly sessions, while others have sessions every so often or when they feel the need. Children can benefit from ‘having their feet done’ every day and for this purpose the practitioner can show you how to practice the technique on your children in between sessions.

Each person's life force will bring about changes in whatever timescale is right for them. While changes may not always be immediate, they do tend to be lasting.

Is it safe?

The Metamorphic Technique is completely safe and beneficial for everyone from newborns and pregnant women to the very elderly and dying. A person does not even need to be conscious to benefit from it, simply alive! As it is your own life force that does the healing, it cannot do you any harm. The practitioner simply acts as a catalyst enabling your potential, which you already have inside you and which has always been a part of you, to rise to the surface and grow to its full height. There is no external influence being exerted by the practitioner.

The Technique can be received on its own or alongside other approaches, whether conventional medicine or alternative and complementary therapies.

History and theory behind the Metamorphic Technique?

If you would like to know more about the theory behind this Technique and how it was developed, please follow this link to the website of the Metamorphic Association, which has kindly provided much of the information given on this page. The rest has come from my own experience and that of other MT practitioners and clients.
